LC quote of the day

Is more like the conversation of the day today...

Leah: Those ducks are taking naps, mommy!
Me: They sure are.
Leah: When they wake up are they gonna go swimming in that pond?
Me: I think they probably will.
Leah: Mommy, do ducks wear swim shoes?

It was chilly this morning so we busted out the snuggle bunny boots (which I purchased this summer for $1.99!! Yay mommy!) When we got in the car she told me "Their names are Kevin and Leah Caroline."

A little ladybug

When we joined our church 6 years ago, we joined a Sunday school class that was becoming too big for it's britches... And so a split was imminent. The class was divided. Kids vs. No Kids. I called it the "haves" and the "have nots." We joined the have-nots, which was naturally just a slightly younger group of married couples... And what do you know? A few short years later we are the "haves." I counted 39 kiddos in this picture. There were some that could not be wrangled and half a dozen or so buns that were still in their ovens. Not to mention the friends that couldn't make it to the party at all.

My little lady bug is just above and to the left of Thomas the Train.

She picked to be a ladybug (after her mean, sexist mommy told her that only boys dressed up like Lightning McQueen and they didn't make his costume for girls!!! Can you believe I said that???? I am the world's worst!!)

And here she is with her sweet friend, Ian the astronaut.

I wish one of these hadn't been blurry! What a pair!

LC quote of the day

"I think my allergies are broken. I need new allergies."

Today was the first day she's wanted to carry a purse. She said "I will carry mine just like you, mommy!" Oh.So.Sweet! (And you know who else... of course... my girlie little tomboy)

Farmer Lessie

We met Aunt Leslie for dinner last night at chick-fil-a. Leslie came straight from the barn, wearing her overalls and red rubber boots (legs tucked in of course... How I wish I had taken a full body pic...)

When I saw her coming in I said "Here comes Farmer Leslie!" I said it once... without any reaction from Leah.

An hour later, after we had eaten, talked, stopped to smell the flowers

and played for a while on the playground, I took Leah to go potty. When she was all done with her business she said "Lets go back and see Farmer Leslie! Farmer Leslie will be so proud of me. I love Farmer Leslie sooo much."

That's Aunt Farmer Leslie to you little one... :)

Here I said "Would both of you please look at the camera at the same time??"

Two peas in a pod!

Flu-free

...Is what we plan to be. Little Curley had her choice of a little shot in the leg... or a big spray up the nose.

I would always opt for the shot. Because I am a purist... and a masochist... and a little skeptical about the mist. I mean, what happens if you sneeze right after? (Which undoubtedly I would do.)

But this girl opted for the spray in the nose... And let me tell you, she will never opt for that again! She was not a fan and as soon as it was over she said "Mommy, I want the shot instead."

I'd promised her a treat after it was over and she SCREAMED "Starbucks!!" She loves the birthday-cake pops... Who doesn't? So off we went for a 9 am treat.

Sprinkle lips.

Flu vaccines are good...

But laughter is the best medicine.

Then we headed to the ag mart to pick up a couple of things for the shepherd in the family.

She saw the baby chicks and said "Where are their mommies?" I didn't tell her that one was marinating in our refrigerator at home in preparation for tonight's dinner.

Speaking of... The other day she told me "Chicken comes from cows, mommy." Do you think chick-fil-a's marketing campaign is confusing her?

She cracked me up when she said "ok baby chickens, now line up and I will teach you some things you need to learn."

a little ham

Leah's new favorite movie is Veggietales: Princess and the Popstar. When her friend Lillie came over today, they hopped up on the piano bench and Leah burst into one of the (very melancholy) songs from the movie. You'll see that once they've finished that song she hops down and says "Now its time to get ready for the Ka-Chow show!"

Leah turned around to me later and said "Excuse me mommy, we're getting ready for tonight's show." After this they sang several more songs together, including Happy Birthday and Twinkle Twinkle. I wish I had the entire show on video! It was spectacular.

Enjoy some ham!

a little cooking

Even though her thumb appears to be on the wrong side of her hand... she is quite a little cook!
This particular meal was spaghetti... "Some for me and Mommy and Daddy and Beans."
"A little taste for you..."

"A little taste for me..."

RIP... my sweet

See the big one? This particular melon vine in my garden had several of these little melons sprouting, but only the biggest one continued to grow as the other ones shriveled in the heat this summer. I didn't photograph her after this date, but she was more than half the size of a full grown cantaloupe melon, when her vine of origin met an untimely end... She made it through the hottest summer on record in Texas... only to be weed-whacked to death. :( Kevin was sorry, though he didn't come right out and confess UNTIL I found the lifeless melon and began blaming the neighborhood rabbits for the death of my little fruit. Sad.

Natives

Every summer around the 4th of July, we re-unite with some of Kevin's Native American family in Oklahoma. That's right... you probably didn't know that my freckle-faced fair-skinned hubby was an Indian... but he is... that means this little blondie is too!

For the last few years we've reunited at a Casino/Hotel for the weekend... and since LC is too young to gamble... We swim...and we swim... Leah swam with daddy...and with Granstan...And surprised us all when she wanted to swim all by herself.
"Don't help me, I want to do it by myself."

Seriously, who wouldn't be impressed by a man who can hand-stand like this? Well, hands off ladies... he's mine!

Where's Lightning?

This is just like Where's Waldo... Only you are looking for lighning McQueen. He is a red race-car. He comes in many shapes and sizes... But he's always #95, he always says "ca-chow" and he is ALWAYS with Leah Curley. See if you can find him in the pictures. He's in every one...
