Look at her grow - Leah's 4 year old check-up

This year, on February 9, Leah turned 4... One day I will post pictures of her birthday festivities... But for now here are the growth stats. She continues to be our "petite" family member according to the charts. But lately she has been growing out of clothes and shoes right and left!
At her check up she had perfect vision, perfect hearing, she met every milestone and no longer has to have her head measured (or mocked for being above average in size.)
This time she also got a fancy paper gown to wear!!! And we had the perfect accessory for it. Aunt Leslie gave Leah this fabulous "vintage" (thrift store) scarf for her birthday and for weeks Leah would not take it off. "It goes perfectly with everything!"

Weight: 33 lbs (45th %ile)
Height: 38 inches (20th %ile)
BP: 92/60
Vision: 20/20
Shots: 3
Drama: maximum allowed... at all times... by any standard

My favorite part of the developmental assessment is always seeing where she maxes out. This year, it is definitions... "Leah, what is a house?" her answer... "It's a house!" Funny girl. She knows a whole lot about a whole lot, but a house is a house is a house. What more can you say???

After her check up, we stopped for a treat...

and then she went to my check-up with me...

It was a landmark day...
2 Dr visits = 2 treats!!

A little exercise

This beautiful weather (and almost 9 days of being inside for me) called for a really nice stroll outside...

A little big sister

Leah and Aunt Leslie are both big sisters...

Another day of visiting her little sister in the hospital...

Big Sister visiting in the hospital after seeing Disney princesses on ice...

First morning for Big Sister to snuggle with Ava in mommy's bed...

Giggle is also a big sister...

Big Sister likes to hold Ava very first thing in the morning and maybe watch a little tv...

The world's sweetest Big Sister...

Ava Grace Curley

She's here! She arrived on Wednesday, April 3 at 7:50 in the morning.

We had another scheduled c-section. Since I had to have one the first time when the giant dermoid was removed from my ovary, I knew a second would be recommended and be likely. My doctor was willing to let me attempt a vbac delivery if I had gone into labor and she had been in position.... But... there was no labor by the specified date. And then when they got in there on Ava's birthday there was her little bottom! She was breech and so I guess God intended all along that I would have another c-section.

Ava weighed 7 lb 8 oz and was 20 inches long. She was exactly a half a pound and one inch larger than her big sister was at birth.

And big sister is just smitten with Ava. She talks about how "precious" and "beautiful" she is all the time. She tells how much she loves her and how "she has changed my life forever!" She constantly wants to hold her and help do things.

Not many things can match this feeling.

We are so grateful to God for His gift of new life in our family.
