Mamaaaaa..didn't mean to make you cry

Happy 09/09/09! And a happy 7 months to our baby girl!

"Daddy, can we get one of these in the backyard?"

The girl is 7 months old today!!!!! And her dad and I have both been very nostalgic about it. We called and texted each other alot and said alot of "7 months ago we were...(fillintheblank)... right now."

The month of August was so busy, there's no good way to recap. Suffice it to say Leah has been movin' and shakin' and most importantly saying "Mama!!!" She started it a few weeks ago. At first it was "mamamamamamama" but now we hear more "mama." Unless she's crying and its "maaaaaaaa maaaaa" in the saddest voice you have ever heard. There's also wa, woo, ba, bo, boo, goo, kkkkkerrrr, ummm and every combination of these that you could possibly squeal.

Also... she loves bows... (and Auntie Sara!)
Big bows on Bitty's birthday....
She loves bottles...
the bigger the better....
She loves her saucer!!
And of course, she is still the fashionista in the family...
We added some girly accessories to this outdoor look...
"Bring it on!"
We also started sitting in big girl high chairs!

A little overkill on the tray size if you ask me... but ask me again in about 3 months... so there you have 08/09... more or less...

Project Puree - yellow and orange

I am sincerely sorry that this will bore so many folks. But sometimes I can't help myself. I love projects. So hopefully this is quick and painless and won't make you want to stop reading this blog altogether. And for those who only visit us to see pics of the girl... for you..

After sweet peas, we enjoyed carrots...

.
Sweet potatoes are the FAVORITE so far... stupid picture won't turn.
.
Then summer squash!

.
YUM! The squash has been my personal favorite so far.

.
We also had pears, but not homemade... no good ones to choose from this time of year. Check out the pink "spoon"... kind of intriguing and revolting at the same time huh?
.
So apparently you are supposed to start with yellow foods, then go to orange and then green. Oops. We have always been a little backward. (Although it seems that on the subject of baby's first foods, there are as many opinions as there are foods!) I just really wanted to post these pictures because I love the vibrant colors of the mush.

Look at her grow... 6 month check-up

A couple of weeks back, we had the 6 month check-up... and she check-up-ed perfectly. We sit up on the table now... like a big girl!

Oh, and the milestones I remember that were most fitting...
  • may show sharp mood changes
  • displays especially strong attachment to mom (especially at bedtime)
  • jabbers and squeals (ALL DAY)
  • may show sharp mood changes (did I already mention that one?)

Doesn't that thing look like a mechanism for torture?

Here's the data:

  • 25 1/2 inches long (30th %ile). Of course its really only an estimate, because she's so wiggly they can't possibly really tell. (Once she gets that neck we ordered she will measure a little longer too.)
  • Weighed in at 16 lbs 1.5 ounces... That puts her in the 50th %ile for weight...
  • And finally, we have some assurance that she is really our baby. The head.... 17 1/8 inches! 75th %ile! Which, by my deductions means she would have been in the 30th %ile in height AND weight if not for the extra weight of that HEAD! :)

My dad says he used to palm my head like a basketball when I was a baby, because it was exactly that shape... and size. Kevin's mom had to cut the neck of his baby clothes to get them over his head. But my mom has always told me that I had to have a big head to fit my big brain. (she's sweet... and I will soon be telling Leah the same lie... because we went to lunch with a "big for her age" 1o month old and Leah's head was bigger by far... it must be the brain)

Next... 4 shots! We got all the regular ones AND the first of two (possibly three) flu shots of the year. She always gets a pretty good fever for at least 24 hours after her vaccinations. Its the pits. Of course they were terrible and it was a good thing we brought Shrimp with us. He always makes Leah feel better. (And after seeing this photo of myself, I got a haircut... which made us all feel better. uuug) A dose of grape flavored baby Tylenol and it was time for a little playing. Is there a little mischief behind those eyes Curley Q? I don't think she can see when she smiles this big. :) Her Pops has the same problem.
