a little ice

We went with my parents and my sister to see the super cool ice sculptures at the Gaylord Texan. Here are several pictures of Leah Curley in one giant blue parka... The lady at the door said it was 3 degrees inside! Showing off her new mittens... She is sooooo excited about Shrek...But for a few minutes we couldn't get her to go in because her eyes were glued to the overhead TVs that were playing the movie. Here it is! Shriek, Pops, Leah and Bibby! Donkey is right behind Bibby. Giant ice slide for little kids... Kevin and I went down the grown-up version. It was pretty fun!She was having so much fun... but we were really really really really cold by this point. So we hurried through the end of it. But I did get a good pic of this awesome ice dragon.

My sister and I also sat in an ice outhouse together so there is a picture of that floating around somewhere.

The Curleys and the Shreks.

The Coopers and The Curleys. A really fun family tradition has begun! Merry CHRISTmas!!

Red Neck Nick

This year Daddy heard that Old St. Nick was going to be dropping by the Bass Pro Shop so we eagerly headed out there to meet up with some friends for some shopping and Santa sitting. We had to "take a number" so while we waited we played with sharks...

bears... and guns...
Oh! And we got to ride the reindeer carousel!
We pretty much did it all... then it was finally time to see the jolly guy!
She told him she would like a baby doll bed. Later she remembered she forgot to ask him for a sleeping bag. We are sure that Santa knows though.

Her indian name...

might be Little Busy Beaver... or Small One Who Is Never Silent... or Little Giggling Chipmunk... any of these would be terribly appropriate.

A stranger at the post office the other day conversed with Leah for 10 minutes about post office boxes. Then the lady told her she was "a very loquacious little girl." And after that she twirled in circles for another 5 minutes saying "Am I a loquacious little girl? What is loquacious mommy? Why did that lady at the mailboxes say I am loquacious?"

Anyway, it's not often she will stand still long enough for me to put pigtails in... Let alone braids!!

I think it brings out the native-american in her. Yes, Giggle! She does look like you in these pics!

LC quote of the day

"I will be right back. I am going to the grocery store to get gifts for baby Jesus.

I am getting him gold, frankincense, emergency and faith."

a little steel trap

I used to have a crazy memory too. I can still call the roll from my kindergarten class. I could look at a sheet of vocabulary words and memorize what the sheet looked like in order to recall the words for a spelling or other such test. I only had to see a movie, tv show or commercial one time to have it memorized. Many things have contributed to the loss of my memory over the years... not the least of which was carrying and delivering this little bundle of joy... who just the other day recalled when I got a speeding ticket almost A YEAR AND A HALF AGO and decided to bring it up out of the blue. Suddeny it was Leah's speeding ticket and she put herself in jail because she didn't have the money to pay it... and I caught a little on video...

Oh be careful what you say, little mouth... Leah is aaaalways listening. It may not always seem like it, but you can be certain she is locking it away for use at a later time.

a little argument

About a month ago, we took a little weekend trip to The Big Easy. We walked, we ate, we shopped and then we walked, and we ate some more. All the while trying our best not to get any voodoo on us.

The real purpose of the trip was that Kevin was going to be arguing before the 5th circuit court of appeals for the very first time. And I had to see it! Of course I can see Kevin argue in court in the Dallas area any time... or I could just wait til he gets home and argue with him myself... but the idea of the high level appelate court was so exciting to me!

At times I have been known to be little bit of a courtroom drama junkie. TV and real life. I may be the only person on Earth to have ever been excused from jury duty only to stay as a spectator and watch the trial proceed all day.

We saw all the beautiful sights of New Orleans...

And we saw Mr Hankie, the Christmas poo... really nice...

We ate more than a few beignets from heaven...

And we stuffed our faces with as much seafood from as many famous places as we could before Kevin's argument Monday morning.
Kevin impresses me in alot of ways. But to see him do his courtroom thing is one of the most impressive things. In the blink of an eye he goes from being my goofy red-neck husband to being a serious grown-up! And a REALLY good lawyer! :) I was so proud. Not a single person in the whole place even cracked a smile the whole day but I was grinning ear to ear like an idiot the whole time. I may have even giggled. (Heaven help us if Kevin ever has a case go to the Supreme Court!!)And just as most of our household arguments go... he won! He likes to win. I love that man.

serious about movies

Not that you can tell in these pictures, but Leah was soooooooo excited to be going to see The Lion King (in 3D!) We didn't really know it was 3D until we got there, but we thought we would give those snazzy glasses a try. A little candy for the picture show...

Once again, having a great time...
She kept her glasses on until the last 15 minutes or so, but still diligently watched to the very end... blur and all.

This was her first time to see this movie, but she was singing the songs in the car on the way home!

LC quote of the day

Me:

What did you do at Bibby's house today?

Leah:

Well, I disobeyed daddy. Ate some lunch... spaghetti. Played with blocks and played some more and went to sleepy town. That's all.

fabulous fossil rim

Waaaay back in September (I think) we took a fabulous trip to Granbury and Fossil Rim. So fabulous, in fact, that ever since then Leah wants her friends to pretend with her that they are going on a trip to Granbury. (It was super fun, but if I am pretending... I am going to Hawaii or Switzerland.)

We are ready to go see the animals. Leah is reading the map for us.
"Mommy, why is daddy scared of the emus?" HAHAHA!

We checked out out all the animals, and they checked us out too.

We fed them from our hands...

They got waaaay up in our business...

We enjoyed the buena vista...

And my FAVORITE PART OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here he comes!!!!!

We fed a bunch of them and they are the most gentle giants ever! I had a ball! I want to have a pet giraffe.
