Me:
Well, I don't think there are any real castles close by but one day daddy and I will take you to a real one.

Leah:
Ok well make sure you bring your pillow and everything because we are going to live there together.

Curley: Party of 3

We had our first and last professional family portriats as a family of 3.  Our wonderful photographer, Maria Holland, made this slideshow for us. 

So that I know what we did last summer - Idaho

We joined Bibby, Pops and Leslie (and a few friends) on a trip to Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.  It was beautiful! A really fun trip too... considering I was pregnant and didn't know it yet... and everything was starting to make me just a little bit queasy...

They were having a serious heat wave in Coeur d'Alene....

But us Texan's didn't mind too much... (that was one of the more mild days of this summer's heat wave... if I remember correctly... since  I had many of my brain cells fried in this particular heat I can't be sure...)

We did a little boating...

 Not a bad view...

 One of my favorite things to look at...

 This is Mudgy the Moose.  And if you look closely you will see his friend Millie the Mouse hiding in his ear.  There is a children's book about Mudgy and Millie written by a local and there are bronze statues protraying their adventures all over town. 

A favorite part of being in a hotel... jumping on the bed and pillow fights with daddy.

Have I ever mentioned before that my daughter and my sister are like 2 peas in a pod? 

They have the exact same sense of humor...

 And they looooove each other like crazy!!

We call this the little princess bed... She loved it.

 The book about Mudgy and Millie!!  She also has the dolls.

 We found a toy shop with the neatest little carousel you could ride for 25 cents!  We spend a few bucks there.

Leah and her friends Hannah and Mallory got to stay up late with their grandparents and eat ice cream and watch a movie...

 So the parents and the aunt got to go have some kid-less fun...

So that I know what we did last summer - Galveston

We joined Giggle, Granstan and Laura in Galveston for a little vacation... And it just so happened that they were having a record seaweed year.  We didn't know it was happening until we got there, but it was big news and there is apparently a major fine for clearing any of it off the beach. So... we played in it instead.  Surprisingly, it didn't seem to bother anyone including this girlie...

 She just flew her princess kite right through it all... until the sea breeze made off with it... and took it out to sea... but not without a valiant effort on her mother's part to try and save it.  I ran hard through all that seaweed trying to be her hero.  To this day she wonders why I couldn't catch it.

 The seaweed didn't stop Granstan from flying all his monster-sized stunt kites either. 

Thank you, seaweed, for the memories.

 We found after some time that it was just as pleasant (and so much easier) to just have ourselves a little backyard pool party. 

 So pleasant, in fact that we had a 2 pool party.  There is a picture somewhere of Giggle enjoying a relaxing time of refreshment in the other pool.... wonder where that picture is??

So that I know what we did last summer - Swimming

Summer of 2012 seems like a long time ago now... but I can't have my lazy, pregnant-ness get the best of my blog.  So I will try and just do a little catch up as quick as I can... I don't want to forget these things, and since Leah's baby book is still in pieces in a scrapping box 4 years later, I can't trust myself to capture our memories any other way. 

Our second round of swimming lessons with Ms Ann. It was EXTREMELY successful and she loved it!  (Despite the look on her face in this photo on the way to lessons.)

 

Swam with our friend Chloe, who we met at city swimming lessons earlier in the summer. 








Miss Ann had a terrible fire in her backyard before the session ended, so we had to miss a few days, but Leah still talks about it.  She can't wait for it to "get to be swimming time again!"
