More 2012 - A little camping

Back in early fall, we went camping at Tyler State Park with Giggle, Granstan and Laura, too. They got an RV while we, self-righteously, did some "real camping" in our tent.
Our tent will soon be too small for our family of 4 AND the queen size air mattress!!  Oh... And I must admit the RV was a nice, cool escape from the bee swarm we encountered several times.  We also enjoyed lots of climate-controlled mealtimes in there.  Leah slept in/on/near the kitchen table one night and declared she like sleeping in the RV better than the tent. Boo!

Leah taking a "nap" in the RV...

Getting ready to fish with Daddy...

To touch the worm or not to touch the worm... that is the question...

Chillin with dad...

Our campsite was right next to the Sunday morning worship site... so nice to get up and go to church next door... Leah even went in her s'mores jammies.

My favorite pic...

A little..... ummmm....  pole.... dancing??

One leg up and one leg down... I have seen this trend before...

We had campfires, made s'mores, candy apples, went fishing and paddle boating and did lots of relaxing while we were there.

It was relaxing, and yet so very tiring... We LOVE camping!!

a little argument

About a month ago, we took a little weekend trip to The Big Easy. We walked, we ate, we shopped and then we walked, and we ate some more. All the while trying our best not to get any voodoo on us.

The real purpose of the trip was that Kevin was going to be arguing before the 5th circuit court of appeals for the very first time. And I had to see it! Of course I can see Kevin argue in court in the Dallas area any time... or I could just wait til he gets home and argue with him myself... but the idea of the high level appelate court was so exciting to me!

At times I have been known to be little bit of a courtroom drama junkie. TV and real life. I may be the only person on Earth to have ever been excused from jury duty only to stay as a spectator and watch the trial proceed all day.

We saw all the beautiful sights of New Orleans...

And we saw Mr Hankie, the Christmas poo... really nice...

We ate more than a few beignets from heaven...

And we stuffed our faces with as much seafood from as many famous places as we could before Kevin's argument Monday morning.
Kevin impresses me in alot of ways. But to see him do his courtroom thing is one of the most impressive things. In the blink of an eye he goes from being my goofy red-neck husband to being a serious grown-up! And a REALLY good lawyer! :) I was so proud. Not a single person in the whole place even cracked a smile the whole day but I was grinning ear to ear like an idiot the whole time. I may have even giggled. (Heaven help us if Kevin ever has a case go to the Supreme Court!!)And just as most of our household arguments go... he won! He likes to win. I love that man.

fabulous fossil rim

Waaaay back in September (I think) we took a fabulous trip to Granbury and Fossil Rim. So fabulous, in fact, that ever since then Leah wants her friends to pretend with her that they are going on a trip to Granbury. (It was super fun, but if I am pretending... I am going to Hawaii or Switzerland.)

We are ready to go see the animals. Leah is reading the map for us.
"Mommy, why is daddy scared of the emus?" HAHAHA!

We checked out out all the animals, and they checked us out too.

We fed them from our hands...

They got waaaay up in our business...

We enjoyed the buena vista...

And my FAVORITE PART OF ALL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Here he comes!!!!!

We fed a bunch of them and they are the most gentle giants ever! I had a ball! I want to have a pet giraffe.
