Swim 2013

Swimming lessons with Ms. Ann....

During this year's first session, Leah swam with her cousins, Jaxon (aka "turtle man" which his mom and I dubbed him as he craned his neck out as high above the water as possible to avoid getting his face wet!) and Madilyn (aka "courage" which Ann dubbed her as she kept taking her safety gear off and just going for it!)

Goggles on!

(Leah chose not to swim with goggles after the first day...)

Sweet kiddos!

For our second session, Leah's swimming partner was Miss Addison. And Leah graduated to swimming without the barbell!!

And jumping in without holding anybody's hand!!

She loves to swim... And Kevin and I have just about decided we need a pool. :)

Ava's first photo shoot

The poor 2nd born child was not professionally photographed until she was 2.5 months old!
.
When we finally got it scheduled it was not a good day... We were extremely late, we had a hot, humid, muddy morning when a cool dry one had been predicted, and big sister had a BAD hair day! Ava, who smiles more than any other baby in the world... WOULD NOT SMILE all morning! And Leah, who usually loves having her picture made, was feeling a bit more contrary than usual and making it hard to get much accomplished.
.
Our photographer (and friend) Julie Conary said it wasn't so bad (ha!) I am truly AMAZED that she got one good shot, let alone several!
.
Here are a few for you!

LC quote of the day

On a daily basis Leah is noticing new things about the world. She amazes me multiple times a day with things she "has just realized." And the words she uses!!! Crack me up!!! Of course by the time I even get to my phone or computer or a piece of scrap paper to write it down, I have forgotten whatever she said that just amazed or entertained me. What is this phenomenon???Anyway... Here is one moment from a car ride yesterday...
.
"Mom, blink your eyes two times. What you see with your eyes appears inside your eyes when you close them! Kind of like just the shapes. Why? Why do your eyes do that?"
.
Big sister, you are my little scientist.

A couple of little burritos

Both of my girls have been swaddle babies. They both got very still and calm when tightly wrapped. Combine that with the pacifier and Leah was the world's greatest sleeper. The combo was like a drug! :)

Ava doesn't take a pacifier... Boo! But she does sleep very well when swaddled... that is... if it's done "just so" and she can't get out of it.

Yesterday when I wrapped Ava up in her swaddle blankets (Yes, two! One can't contain that strong girl!) to go down for a nap, Leah asked me if I could swaddle her up too...

She laid peacefully like this for 30 minutes and watched tv before saying "This is hot! How come babies don't get hot in their blankets and big girls do?"

Would someone please swaddle me? What a nap that would be!
